Thank You Veterans!

Mission Statement: to establish an effective program designed solely around the message "Thank You" to show our veterans how much we appreciate their services and sacrifices.

Veterans greatly deserve recognition and a show of appreciation for the service and sacrifices they have made protecting our nation. Viera East Golf Club management and staff want to say "Thank You" to these veterans by sharing the various benefits attributed to golf as well as the fun of the sport with them.

In 2009 we hosted four free Veterans Golf clinics, the first two being designed specifically for the disabled veterans. The disabilities included double amputees, arthritis, PTSD and many others. While our instructors and staff were looking to do the inspiring, we soon learned we were the ones in for the treat! When you look out and watch a young man thats lost an arm and a leg, muster the strength and determination to not only attempt a task but succeed, you become the one who`s being inspired! Needless to say our clinics where a huge success for both sides! Our appreciation for these men and women grew increasingly with each new round. As a result of the response our Veterans haven shown to the first four clinics we have gone a step further. Viera East Golf Club has now developed a "Veterans/Active Military Program" to honor all of our men and women in the military. Our program will include four more golf clinics, three course management clinics as well as gift packages being sent overseas to our men and women currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The beauty of our program is that it doesn`t have to be golf related to be giving back, it doesn`t have to stay in Brevard county for us to succeed in showing our appreciation. We look to grow this program each year, reaching as many veterans and active duty men and women as we can.

Each clinic begins with registration at 9:15 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. participants gather under the "big tent" for opening ceremonies and the introduction of our guests and instructor. After introductions are complete the group is split into two smaller groups. Group one stays on the practice range tee, and the other heads to the putting green. After approximately an hour we meet back under the "big tent" for a time of question and answer which doubles as a chance to refresh and prepare for the second half of the clinic. Once all the questions are answered we swap stations and complete the final leg of the clinic. Lunch will be served on the patio area located outside the Pro Shop after the completion of the clinic.

Our professional golf staff will provide instruction and personalized assistance to veterans with all levels of disabilities and any amount of golf experience. However, the clinics are not limited to Veterans with disabilities and we encourage all veterans to sign up regardless of limitations and experience level! Each clinic is limited to the first 30 to sign up. Viera East Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course designed by renowned golf course architect Joe Lee. the masterful blend of natural terrain woven through Viera`s native marshlands and pristine lakes makes this one of his finest creations.

While Viera East offers generous driving areas, Lee`s trademark bunkering and the constant coastal breezes will challenge even the highest caliber of golfer. Meticulous course conditioning and genuine Southern hospitality make this an experience you will remember.

The course can stretch out to 6720 yards from the back tees, offers men`s tees at 6482 yards and 6243 yards, and ladies tees at 5282 and 4811 yards, to accommodate all skill levels. The practice facilities include a large, rolling putting Green and driving range that will allow more than 30 stations to hit from at the same time.
