Florida HVAC Rebate Program on Hold

Florida HVAC Rebate Program on Hold

Information on the Florida ENERGY STARŪ Residential HVAC Rebate Program was included in the City`s monthly newsletter, News for Neighborhoods (September 2010 issue). Please be advised that all applications for Florida ENERGY STARŪ Residential HVAC rebates are pending, contingent upon the Florida Legislature`s authorization of the use of $17.5 million in federal funds. Florida received federal approval to use the funds; however, State Legislative authority is still needed.

Governor Charlie Crist has requested the Florida Legislature to take immediate action to authorize the use of funds for HVAC rebates. Please continue to visit www.rebates.com/floridahvac for updated information about the status of the HVAC rebate program.

About the Florida Energy Star Residential HVAC Rebate Program:

The Florida ENERGY STARŪ Residential Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Cooling (HVAC) Rebate Program is designed to encourage existing homeowners to replace their old energy-inefficient heating and cooling system with a properly-sized energy efficient system and to ensure that their heating and cooling air duct system has a leakage rate of 15% or less. Florida residents who purchase an Energy StarŪ certified home air conditioning unit between August 30, 2010 - December 31, 2010 (or until the $15 million fund is exhausted) and have their home air duct system tested to meet the aforementioned leakage rate, can become eligible for a $1500 rebate. THIS REBATE PROGRAM IS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
