Situated on former Duda Ranch and scrub forest land, Viera is a master planned community in Brevard County, Florida, located in the Space Coast region. It is an unincorporated part of the Melbourne area.[1] Viera is home to many of the county government`s buildings. It also contains the Space Coast Stadium, home field for the Brevard County Manatees. It is the spring training home of the Washington Nationals. The population of Viera (as of 2000) is approximately 19,083.[2]

The area contains wetlands. There is a regional park.

Neighborhoods include Gatwick Manor, Daintree, Sunstone Estates, Terramore, Eason Landing, Cortona, Levanto, Charolais Estates, Chelford, Colfax Landing, Ravencliffe, Indigo Crossing, Heritage Isle, Stone Ridge, and Fairway Lakes at Viera—all part of the 2010 Viera West Expansion in the Villages of North Solerno and The Villages Of South Solerno, with home prices ranging from $250 thousand to over $1.5 million.[citation needed] Also part of the 2010 expansion is Summer Lakes, and Wyndham At Duran. The older part of viera includes Wickham Lakes,[3] Viera East Golf Club, Crane Creek, Grand Isle Retirement Community, Herons` Landing, Indian River Colony Club, Six Mile Creek, Hammock Trace, Osprey Ridge, Osprey Landing and The Villages of Viera East[4] which consists of the Bennington, Somerville, Templeton, Auburn Lakes and Wingate Estates subdivisions, surrounding the Ralph M. Williams, Jr. Elementary School. Hammock Lakes was the first neighborhood, completed in 1994.[citation needed]

Development started in earnest about 1993. Until then, the area was mostly open land or farmland with road access via a single lane highway.[5]

An overpass crossing I-95 in central Viera opened in November 2007, joining Viera East and Viera West via an extension of Viera Boulevard. This reduced travel time to government offices.[6]

On January 22, 2010, 159 homes were damaged by a EF0 tornado.[7]

The Avenue Viera, a shopping center[8] opened in 2004. The grand opening was delayed somewhat due to Hurricanes Frances and Jean [9] The Avenue contains shops and restaurants, Rave Motion Pictures Theaters,[10] and several Big Box retailers including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Office Depot and The Sports Authority, New York and Company, Charlotte Russe, and Pacsun.

Restaurants include Steak `n Shake, Longhorn Steakhouse, Panera Bread, Chili`s, Moe`s Southwest Grill, Five Guys, Mimi`s Cafe, Redberry Gourmet Frozen Yogurt, Pizza Gallery and Grill, and The Melting Pot.

There are two 18-hole golf courses.[11]

There is a 125-acre (0.51 km2) Regional Park which has 5 lit baseball fields, 2 lit softball fields, 8 soccer fields, an 18,000 square feet (1,700 m2) community center/gymnasium, 2 lit outdoor basketball courts, 3 playgrounds, and 4 lit tennis courts.

The Brevard County Manatees][12] uses the Space Coast Stadium. Single A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers and the spring training site of the Washington Nationals. The stadium is listed to seat 8,100 people to capacity.

The Suntree-Viera Lightning Mighty Mites, an under-10 football team, won the national championship in 2009.[13] In 2010, two soccer clubs with a total of 1,200 members vied for space on recreational ground.[14][15]

Suntree is a planned unincorporated community in Brevard County, Florida, United States.[1] It is located near the center of the county, off I-95 near Viera between Interstate 95 and the Florida East Coast Railroad. It lies approximately halfway between Rockledge and Melbourne. The population was 20,194 at the 2000 census.

Suntree is part of the Palm Bay¯Melbourne¯Titusville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

On January 9th, 2010, a storm during a cold snap brought mostly rain, but it later changed into sleet and then to snow. The snow was light, and there was no accumulation.
